Staying Humble

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven – John 3:27

I know a lot of people who take pride in the fact that they accepted Christ as their Savior.  Little do they realize it had little to do with their effort and a whole lot to do on Gods.

John 6:65 says And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. and John 6:44 says No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So don’t take pride in the fact that you accepted Christ as your Savior.  Instead, take pride in the fact that God invited you to come to him.

  1. Those who are worldly or fleshy Bob have many ego problems, their pride is about their own importance and it comes first, they reject those who don’t agree with them or don’t commend them, even when they are in error and they also reject Godly advice and correction without offering Scriptural confirmation for rejecting it or what they share is out of context and not Spiritually discerned. This is why God tells us to put our Carnal flesh to death, it is opposed to His Truth and to Aim for Perfection in Love and we need to also ask for His wisdom and Empowering in Christ Jesus.

But as we know Bob there is another type of Pride which is Godly, I will just summarize them both and share a few Scriptures so we can see the difference.

The two types of Pride, Godly Pride and worldly or fleshy pride, we are to have Godly Pride but as you shared not worldly pride.

    What Worldly pride is…

Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

1 John 2:15- 17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the Love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes and the Pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.

    What Godly Pride is …

Galatians 6: 4 Each one should understand their own actions. Then they can take Pride in themselves alone without comparing themselves to others.

2 Corinthians 8:24 show these men the proof of your Love and the reason for our Pride in you so that the Churches can see it.

2 Corinthians 5:11-12 Because we know what it is to fear the Lord we try to persuade others. It is plain to God what we are and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are giving you an opportunity to take Pride in us not trying to commend ourselves again to you so that you have an answer for those who take Pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

Romans 11:13b I take Pride in my Ministry.

To have Godly Love for oneself is to take Pride in our position in Christ Jesus and as a Christian I also take Godly Pride in my Ministry like Paul did to those who are in darkness, and rejoice with those who are not, as I’m sure you do too Bob.

I’m Thankful for the opportunity to share with you again Bob, I found your link by accident, I was looking for something else.

    Christian Love Always – Anne.
