And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. – John 2:17
This is also quoted in Psalm 69:9.
Psalm 69 is one of the most quoted psalms in the New Testament: Psalm 22 deals with the death of Christ, Psalm 69 deals with the life of Christ.
Psalm 69 is quoted in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and also in Acts and Romans. (There are also many references to it beyond those actual quotations.)
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. – John 2:5
This would make a great Mothers Day sermon.
This also excellent advice for every Christian. Whatever Jesus tells you to do, do it!
Jesus saith unto them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. – John 2:7-8
Moses turned water into blood, Jesus turned water into wine.
Jesus wants us to fill our hearts with the water of the Word and the Holy Spirit turns it into wine. Then we are to ladle it out to people just as wine is ladled out. When people taste that the wine (our message) is good, they will come back for more, just as people always come back for more wine if it tastes really good.
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. – Psalm 34:8
