Helping The Needy Part 2

Well my friends, the food and cosmetic part of this is over.  Over 400 needy people showed up at the church to get boxes.  It felt so good to be a part of this.  Just watching the happy faces of the people and the children.  I apologize, but I simply did not have time to take pics.

My body is sore and aches all over, I am not as young as I used to be lol. Each box weighed around 50lbs. It will pass.

Today starts the toy give away.  Today we will be unloading toys from the trucks to the church and getting them set up and into boxes. We will be giving them away to needy families this coming Monday!

The Church raised $200,000 to buy BRAND NEW toys for needy children. I am so proud to be a part of this. Words can’t describe how good a feeling helping out on an event like this gives me. It is worth all the soreness in my body!

Please be patient with me. I will get back to regular posting as soon as this is all over. For now, a man has to do what God calls him to do. God bless you all and thank you for all the comments.

PS: Let me know what you all think of the new blog layout.

Helping The Needy

No scripture for the next few days folks.  Last night, I spent at my church packing food and cosmetic boxes for the needy in the community.  It was the best feeling ever.  My church raised $200,000 worth of food and cosmetics for the needy for Christmas this year.  So far, 350 needy families in the community are going to get a cosmetic and food box worth $300 to $400 each!  40 church members volunteered to pack all this stuff into boxes last night.  We will be finishing up tomorrow, and I will be loading cars for people on Thursday.  So, please forgive me if there is no scripture posts over the next few days.

Now that is what Christmas is all about to me.  Donating my time and labor in the name of the Lord to help needy families have a Merry Christmas.  There’s no better feeling in the world than to know I was a part of it.  The Christ of Christmas is in my heart, my church, my home and my relationship with Wendy.

Pictures say a thousand words, so without further ado, let me post some that you may share the joy of Christ with me.

Just look at all this stuff!  8 full sized rooms in my church are filled from floor to about 6 feet high with food and cosmetics for the needy.

This is the kitchen area.  Dozens of eggs, oranges, banannas, celery and onions here amongst other things.

40 volunteers including myself donated their time and labor in the name of the Lord to pack each box.  And believe me, they were not stingy in packing them.  Each box got filled with loads and loads of food and cosmetics. Over $300 in items went into each box.  Each needy person will get 2 boxes, 1 full of food and a second box full of cosmetics.

And of course your friendly neighborhood Bible Man  standing in the midst of it all. Just wish the guy with my camera did not shake so much lol.

I will be posting many more pictures of this event over the next few days.  Just think, after this, its time to pack toys.  Thats right, my church raised over $200,000 in toys for the needy as well.  I will be helping pack that stuff and passing it out this weekend.  So you see my readers, the next few days are going to be pretty full for me here.  Forgive me, if I am a little slow at posting for the next few days. Sometimes, we as Christians have to be DOERS of the Word too!  Praise God for giving me the honor of  being part of this.  Merry Christmas and a heartfelt THANK YOU to all who support and read this humble little blog.  God Bless!

True Friends

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. – 1 Samuel 18:1

A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. – Proverbs 17:17

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. – Proverbs 18:24

We all have people in our lives that claim to be our friends.  But how many of us have friends like in the above verses?  Those are our true friends.

I have had a few friends like the above verses describe. Some are still alive, some are with the Lord.  I still love each and every one of them to this day.  For the past year, God has blessed me with a new friend.  Wendy. Wendy and I have enjoyed a lot of good times together and we have endured a few rough times together as well. I have come to love her “as my own soul”.  She sticks closer to me than “a brother”.

Another good friend of mine is a man named MS SWEAT.  Though we have never met in person, he has been a constant source of support and encouragement to me. He “shewed himself friendly” to me and he has never met me. This tells me what a wonderful friend he makes in person.

Jesus is my Ultimate Friend.  He laid down his life for me so that through HIM, I might obtain eternal life. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

How about YOU?  Do you have friends that you love “as your own soul”? Do you have friends “that sticketh closer than a brother”? Are you “shewing yourself friendly to them”? Why not take some time right now to give thanks to God for such wonderful friends? Is Jesus YOUR FRIEND? Why not thank HIM right now for all HE has done for you.

My Never Again List

Continuing on from yesterdays post.  Here is the basic “Never Again” list from the second course I took.  I have added many more to these and you can too.  Please post a comment if this helps or enlightens you in any way.

Never again will I confess “I can’t” for “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13).

Never again will I confess lack, for ”My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Never again will I confess fear, for “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy1:7).

Never again will I confess doubt and lack of faith, for “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3).

Never again will I confess weakness, for “The Lord is the strength of my life” (Psalm 27:1). “The people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).

Never again will I confess supremacy of Satan over my life, for “Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Never again will I confess defeat, for “God always causeth me to triumph in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Never again will I confess lack of wisdom, for “Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom from God” (1Corinthians 1:30).

Never again will I confess sickness, for “With His stripes I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus “Himself took my infirmities and bare my sickness” (Matthew 8:17).

Never again will I confess worries and frustrations, for I am “Casting all my cares upon Him, who careth for me” (1 Peter 5:7). In Christ I am “care-free.”

Never again will I confess bondage, for ”Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Never again will I confess condemnation, for “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). I am in Christ; therefore, I am free from condemnation.

Never again will I confess loneliness, Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).

Never again will I confess curses or bad luck, for ”Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:13-14).

Never again will I confess discontent because ”I have learned, in whatsoever state (circumstances) I am, therewith to be content” (Philippians 4:11).

Never again will I confess unworthiness because “He hath made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Mans Thoughts Vs Gods Replies

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he – Proverbs 23:7

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:2

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ1 Corinthians 10:5

I used to be a very cynical, negative person.  A few years back, I attended 2 bible studies at a church called Mans Thoughts Vs God’s Replies and Never Again.  The courses outlined mans basic thoughts, and what God had to say about them.  As time went by, I began replacing my old, carnal thoughts with Gods thoughts.  This in turn helped me become a more positive person.  I have added over 200 more thoughts and scriptures to this list. What I am going to post here is just the basic scriptures that the class taught.  I also found this to be an excellent way to memorize scripture. The scriptures somehow became more alive to me and they were easy to remember and share with others because I found out that most people had the exact same thoughts I had!

So here they are.  Mans Thoughts Vs Gods Replies.  Let me know if these have helped you in any way. I will post the NEVER AGAIN list tomorrow.

Mans Thoughts Vs. Gods Replies

I can’t do it, it’s impossible!

GOD SAYS: To the believer, all things are possible – Luke 18:27

I give up, I am exhausted!

GOD SAYS: Wait on me, I will renew your strength – Isaiah 40:31

Nobody loves me or ever will!

GOD SAYS: My love for you will last forever – John 31:3

I will never be able to move on!

GOD SAYS: My grace is sufficient for you – II Corinthians 12:9

Help! I don’t know what to do!

GOD SAYS: Trust me, I will direct you – Proverbs 3:5-6

I can’t do this!

GOD SAYS: You can do all things through me – Philippians 4:13

It’s just not worth it!

GOD SAYS: It will be, just keep going – Galatians 6:9

I will never forgive myself!

GOD SAYS: Yes, you can. I have – Ephesians 4:32

I am so scared!

GOD SAYS: I did not give you a spirit of fear… –II Timothy 1:7

I will always be broke!

GOD SAYS: I will supply all of your needs…-Philippians 4:19

I know I can’t handle this!

GOD SAYS: Give your burden to me, I will carry it – Psalm 55:22

If only I had a clue!

GOD SAYS: I will give you wisdom – I Corinthians 1:30

I am all alone!

GOD SAYS: I will never leave you or forsake you – Hebrews 13:5

Those are the scriptures for the basic course.  I am sure you can find many more as I did.  I think I will end this post with a poem by James Allen taken from his book “As A Man Thinketh

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

Today I will think like a dynamic servant of God, because I am what I think.

I am not always what I think I am; I am what I think.

I am not what I eat; I am what I think.

Clothes do not make the man; thinking makes the man.

Therefore I will keep my thought process active and open to the voice of God.

God did not call me to a life of failure, but to a life of success.

This being so, I cannot fail as long as I do His will, allowing Him to work in and through me, motivating my every thought.

Because my God is a big God, I will think with confidence, knowing that my
thoughts can never be bigger than my God.

Today I will think as the apostle Paul thought when he said: “I can do all
things through Christ which strengthen me.” (Phil. 4:13)

How To Love Gods Way

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. – 1 John 4:8

The bible is all about love.  But how many of us truly know what love is and how to love?  Below is a little something I heard at a church service once and I share it with everyone I know.  Write this down on a 3 x 5 index card and insert YOUR NAME in the blank.  Then read it out loud first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening and watch God teach you the true meaning of love and how to love HIS WAY.

Scripture Reference1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

__________ is patient and kind.

__________ is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.

__________ does not demand his/her own way.

__________ is not irritable, and keeps no record of when he/she has been wronged.

__________ is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.

__________ never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
